Asthma
According to a study found in the Journal of
Vertebral Subluxation Research, 81 children who participated in chiropractic
care were assessed before and after treatments. In comparison, there was a
90.1% overall improvement from pre-chiropractic to 60 days after chiropractic
care. In addition to this finding, 30.9% of the children voluntarily decided to
decrease their medication dosage by an average of 66.5% during chiropractic care.
Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome
The Journal of Manipulative and
Physiological Therapies released a study that showed that chiropractic was just
as effective as any medical treatment in decreasing the effects of Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome. In addition, many anti-inflammatory drugs prescribed for
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome patients by their medical doctors prove ineffective and
cause adverse side effects.
Disc
Herniation
A study found in the Journal of Manipulative
and Physiological Therapies showed that chiropractic care may reverse disc
herniation. Consisting of 27 patients, the study revealed that 63% of the
patients, either completely resorbed the herniated disc or at least had a
reduced size in disc protrusion. Moreover, 78% of the patients could return to
their work post-chiropractic care.
Headaches
In a study done by Australian Chiropractic
and Osteopathy, researchers found migraines responded to chiropractic
adjustments with either a complete elimination or at least a substantial
reduction of these symptoms. Not only was the average frequency of migraines
reduced by 90%, but the length of each episode was reduced by 38%. Moreover, a
94% drop in medication occurred after spinal manipulation reduced these
migraines.
Low
Back Pain
Research indicates that low back problems
occur in most people at some point in their lifetime. According to national
statistics, 15 - 30% of people have symptoms of lower back pain each year.
Amongst individuals who are under the age of 45, the most common cause of
disability is lower back problems.
A 23-member panel for The Agency for Health
Care Policy researched acute low back problems in adults and found that spinal
manipulations resulted in positive outcomes when used within the first 30 days
of symptoms.
The Manga Report, the largest and most
detailed analysis of low-back pain, has found that chiropractic spinal
manipulation has been more effective than any other alternative treatment. If
the care for low-back pain was given by chiropractors rather than physicians,
evidence shows that hundreds of millions of dollars could potentially be saved
each year.
According to the Manga Report, injured
employees using Workers Compensation report that returning to work occurs much
quicker when treated by chiropractors rather than physicians.
Low
Back
A study published in 1994 by the United
States Agency for Health Care Policy Research reviewed the many different
treatment plans for low back pain in adults. This study of 5 years came to the
conclusion that relief "can be accomplished most safely with non-
prescription medication and/or spinal manipulation." In addition to this,
the panel of medical doctors, osteopaths, nurses and physical therapists found
no benefit from physical therapy, laser treatment, ultrasound, traction,
massage, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, or even biofeedback
techniques.
Respiratory
Function
In a study found in ICA Review, it was found
that "Patients frequently attest to the rapid movement in upper
respiratory symptoms following adjustment of vertebral subluxations. Children
who are affected with frequent bouts of any of the upper respiratory disorders
should be carefully checked for evidence of cervical subluxations."
Whiplash
The Journal of Vertebral Subluxation
Research studied 57 subjects that had a neck injury caused by whiplash.
Research of those subjects found that after chiropractic care, the subject
population had significant recoveries. A substantial increase in cervical
flexion and extension, muscle strength and a decrease in neck pain disability
are all common outcomes of whiplash recovery under chiropractic care.
